Influence negatively in employees’ work performance and reduce productivity of organization

- Apple-polisher is the key person who affects the office members because
they can affect the superior’s mind of promoting which employee. Usually, the
superior trust the apple-polisher and give them enough power to predominate
over the office politics. Therefore they will have enough power and reason to
banish other members of the office especially the outstanding one.

- For example,
the superior is completely turned off by the apple-polisher then he/she will
reject other employees’ opinion or idea and give all the chance to
apple-polisher to perform themselves. As a result of it, employees may feel
despair to their work as no one will pay any single attention on their ideas or
suggestions, it will cool down the employees’ passion of work and put not much efforts in working,
eventually employees’ work performances are affected.

- At first, employees that
have great potential in work are the apple-polisher’s first target; it is
because they may be more prominent than apple-polisher and it invoke the
apple-polisher jealousy. After banishing the outstanding one, apple-polisher
will take control of the office that other employees will be afraid of him/her
and willingly to be the apple-polisher’s attendant.
- Apple-polisher creates an
unfair situation among employees eventually damage the balancing of office
politics. The employees that work under the depression of the apple-polisher
overbearing power, they don’t dare to provide new ideas as they afraid that
they will be the next target of the apple-polisher’s office politics.

- In
conclusion, employees’ poor work performance is created under this unfair and
political circumstance which is playing by the apple-polisher. Of course,
office politics not only have the negative effect on employees’ work
performance but also will reduce the productivity of one organization. If the
employees have the problem of completing their task efficiently, the office overall
performance will be affected. Due to office politics, apple-polisher stops
everyone from providing brilliant ideas to the organization, then the
organization management can’t come out the new policy to increase the profit
made of organization.

- In addition, an office workplace is always full of
opposing forces. There are people who like to see a project succeed and also
will have others who like to see the project as a failure. These two sets of
people often oppose to each other’s opinion and it creates a balance of office
politics but it will reduce the business transaction productivity. In one of
the case that I have found via network, a company division didn’t want to
implement better software because of influence from the team of old software maintenance
risked losing their job. This group ensured that new software was not
implemented. As a result, the productivity and efficiency of the division
suffered. In the end, the group was broken up by the senior management and new
software implemented. A six months implementation lasted for two years.
